THE WEEKEND

Jesus says the husband and wife are united in a mysterious one flesh connection.   The one flesh connection of husband and wife is as close as, and as profound as, the connection between Christ and the church.  There is no other human relationship described in these terms, not mother-daughter, not father-son, not brother-sister.  The only human relationship described as one flesh is husband-wife.  Pastor Mark Connelly addressed this mystery at MISSION in Gilbert, AZ.  Watch or listen for more.

THE EVENTS

Pastor Mark Connelly presided over a  Vow Renewal Ceremony held at the church.  The 30 minute ceremony was beautifully decorated with flowers, candles, photographers and a certificate.  

Dinners For Eight were also available couples could sign up to attend a dinner with 3 other couples either at a home or at a restaurant.

THE RESULTS

Over 160 couples participated in the Vow Renewal Ceremony.  They wrote their own vows with the help of the Firelight and read them to each other at the ceremony.  They took communion together and had their close friends and family surrounding them.

70 couples made new friends through Dinners For Eight!  There were three different dates to choose from and many different locations.

THE STORIES

"First I want to say that the decorations were Maaaah-velous! Cindy and I got married on 10/03/09 so it wasn't that long ago however we were married at a little wedding chapel here in Gilbert and it just wasn't the same as committing yourself to one another under God's gaze... We both love God, The Mission and Mark so the night really cemented things for both of us. We had some close friends over for a champagne toast and snacks. However the best part of the evening was reciting our vows to one another again in front of our family and friends. We went through quite a few tissues all around for the second time that evening. It wasa very powerful evening for Cindy and myself and we both know that we will be together till death do us part..."

"The Vow-Renewal came at such a great time for us.  Giving us an opportunity to re-commit to each other, saying we will stick together no matter what our situation is, to know God has us where we are for a reason.  So Brian surprised me with taking that Friday, before the ceremony, off work.  Just him and I, that’s right NO kidsJ, to Payson for the night.  We had such a great time reconnecting in conversation on the drive up.  Saturday evening, my parents brought our two kids, Hannah and Japheth, with them to the ceremony and watched us tie the “knot” again….not just any knot, God’s knot.  Our relationship has grown through many joyous and trial times, I am glad we are now re-committed for many more in the future."
